Burial Locations of Maryland Veterans who Served in the War of 1812

This database is a compilation of many years of work by Samuel Y. Smith, Jr. of the Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Maryland.  Sources used for the names and criteria for the service of these veterans include National Archives service records, Eric Johnson’s Maryland Regulars in the War of 1812, F. Edward Wright’s Maryland Militia in the War of 1812, various U.S. Navy Crew Lists, and Crew Lists of Privateers with home port listed in Maryland.  Various sources were used to document the deaths and burial locations of these veterans, including church records, cemetery burial records, newspaper records, and pension records. It should be noted, that the validity of this data is only as good as that of the sources used.  While we are aware of other researchers who have researched this subject, we are not aware of a widely published database and hope that this effort will encourage others to partner with us in making this data broadly available. If users detect what they believe are errors in these records or have additional death dates or burial locations they are encouraged to e-mail:  [email protected]This is a large database and takes several seconds to load.
