Eagle Scouts
Eagle Scout Projects: In accordance with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) “Path to Eagle” advancement procedures, certain projects may be funded by Society grants. The sponsoring organizations should be responsible for this, as well, and will have liability protection once a tour permit is issued by BSA. Funds may not be requested until the project has district approval. The Maryland War of 1812 Society presents to Certificate of Recognition to Eagle Scouts at their Court of Honor. Contact us for more information.
Eagle Scout Recognition Certificate and Patch: This program provides a Certificate of Recognition to a new Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout, their parent(s)/guardian(s), or their unit can submit a request form for a Certificate. Once completed, return it to the email address on the form. The Certificate is presented to Eagle Scouts at their Eagle Courts of Honor. In addition to the Certificate, Eagle Scouts receive a special limited-edition patch. Typically, if requested, we would strive to have an 1812 member attend the Eagle Court of Honor to present the Certificate and patch for troops within the Baltimore Metropolitan area. However, we are happy to discuss alternative arrangements to have Eagle Scouts receive their Certificates and patches. Requests for a certificate and/or patch can be made using our “Contact Us” page Contact – Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Maryland or by contacting William Hoffman at whoffman@umaryland.edu
